On Tuesday of this week Stephen, Brenda, and Zoe McCollum will be moving to Stornoway where Stephen will be ordained and inducted as the minister of Stornoway RPCS on the 28th April, God willing. Stephen and Brenda have had ties to the Airdrie congregation for a long time. Brenda was on RP Mission Teams in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2010. She was a student on the Semester in Scotland programme in 2007. Stephen first came to Airdrie when he was a student in Glasgow nine years ago, and was an active participant in the life of the congregation, becoming a member of the church a few years later. He also led the RP Mission Team in 2009. In 2011 he moved to Pittsburgh to attend the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary there. He and Brenda were married in 2012 and returned for the summer of 2013 to lead the RP Mission Team and to do a summer internship in Scotland. After graduating from RPTS, Stephen and Brenda moved back to Airdrie in 2014, becoming members of the congregation, and Stephen took up his work as Head Teacher at Sunrise Christian School. Stephen was ordained as an elder in the Airdrie congregation in 2016 and has laboured faithfully in that role and been an encouragement both to the congregation and the other members of the Session. Stephen and Brenda’s daughter, Zoe, was born in January of this year, and it has been a delight getting to know her. We are sad to see them leave, and they will be greatly missed, but we are delighted for Stephen and Brenda and Zoe in the opportunity that lies ahead of them and pleased for the Stornoway congregation that they will have him as a minister.
On Lord’s Day the 16th April after the morning worship, the congregation gathered together for a meal as it was the McCollum’s last Lord’s Day with us. Please keep them in your prayers during this time of transition in their lives.
