The annual Airdrie Mission took place the 7th-9th October and Lord’s Day morning and evening the 11th October. Prior to the Mission, 15,000 invites were distributed around the homes in Airdrie by people in the congregation with help from those in the North Edinburgh and Glasgow RP Churches.
Each evening of the Mission there were almost 70 people there. Besides those from Airdrie there were visitors from the community as well as friends and family members who had been asked to come by those in the church. There were also visitors from the Glasgow and North Edinburgh churches there on different nights.
The theme of the week was ‘From Heartache to Joy’ and the sermons were taken from the book of Ruth. Going through the life of Naomi, Rev. Quigley drew parallels to the lost and heartbroken state that we all, as fallen and sinful men and women, have experienced. He looked at the choices that both Orpah and Ruth made and drew parallels to the choice to find out more about who God is and how to have a relationship with Him. He spoke on the providence and grace of God in causing Ruth and Boaz to come together and the role Boaz would play as redeemer drawing parallels to how God draws us to Himself and saves us. Finally, he preached on the joy to be found in pursuing after God with all our heart. The sermons are available to download on sermonaudio.
Pray that the Lord would work in the hearts of those who were at the Mission, and pray that the Lord would hear our prayers for those we invited but who did not come.
